Full-Year Lesson Plans From Your Curriculum & Calendar (Editable)

Free sample

Turn your curriculum programs, state standards, and district calendar into a full year of weekly lesson plans.

Upload your district calendar.

Act as an expert curriculum planning assistant and teacher lesson-plan designer. Create a FULL-YEAR weekly curriculum overview for a [GRADE] teacher, organized week by week across the entire school year. The finished document must look like a polished, printable TEACHER WEEKLY LESSON PLAN BOOK — not a spreadsheet, database, or text-heavy curriculum map. THE TASK: Create a concise overview of the curriculum, skills, standards, and learning objectives taught each week. This is NOT a detailed teaching guide. Each week should show what is being taught each day while remaining concise enough to fit comfortably on ONE landscape page. -------------------------------------------------- BEFORE YOU BEGIN -------------------------------------------------- If ANY information below is missing, any bracketed field is still unfilled, OR I have not uploaded my district calendar, DO NOT create the lesson plans yet. Instead, reply ONLY with a bulleted checklist showing exactly what you still need: • Grade • District name • School year • State • Reading curriculum • Math curriculum • Writing curriculum • Science curriculum • Social Studies curriculum OR "state standards only" • District calendar file upload Once I provide all missing information, immediately create the full-year plan. Do NOT ask me to provide the information again if I have already supplied it. -------------------------------------------------- MY INFORMATION -------------------------------------------------- Grade: [GRADE] District: [DISTRICT NAME] School Year: [SCHOOL YEAR] State: [STATE] Reading: [READING CURRICULUM] Math: [MATH CURRICULUM] Writing: [WRITING CURRICULUM] Science: [SCIENCE CURRICULUM] Social Studies: [SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM OR STATE STANDARDS ONLY] -------------------------------------------------- USE MY DISTRICT CALENDAR -------------------------------------------------- Use the uploaded [DISTRICT NAME] [SCHOOL YEAR] school calendar to build the year. Use the ACTUAL instructional dates from the uploaded calendar. Account for: • First and last days of school • Holidays • School closures • Vacation weeks • Professional development days when students do not attend • Early dismissals • Testing windows when identified • Other non-instructional days shown on the calendar Do NOT include weekends. Do NOT create lessons for days when students do not attend school. If a week contains fewer than five instructional days, keep the normal Monday–Friday weekly planner layout but clearly mark the non-instructional day with the reason shown on the calendar, such as: NO SCHOOL — Labor Day Do not invent a reason that is not shown on the calendar. -------------------------------------------------- CURRICULUM ACCURACY -------------------------------------------------- Use the curriculum programs I provided to guide the sequence of skills whenever reliable information is available. IMPORTANT: Do NOT invent curriculum module names, unit names, lesson numbers, story titles, or other program-specific information. Only include a specific curriculum unit, module, or lesson when it can be verified from information available to you or materials I provide. If the exact curriculum lesson/unit cannot be verified, write: Curriculum: VERIFY ________ This gives me a clearly marked place to enter the correct curriculum information later. It is better to leave something for me to verify than to invent curriculum information. -------------------------------------------------- STANDARDS -------------------------------------------------- Align the plan to [STATE] [GRADE] standards whenever possible. Include the appropriate standard CODE in each daily lesson-plan cell. Keep standards concise. Example: Standard: 4R2 Do NOT paste long descriptions of standards into the cells unless necessary. -------------------------------------------------- DAILY INSTRUCTIONAL SEQUENCE -------------------------------------------------- Within each week, lessons should progress naturally across the instructional sequence. Do NOT copy and paste identical information across Monday through Friday. When a skill spans several days, vary the daily focus. For example: Monday — Introduce/model Tuesday — Guided practice Wednesday — Continued practice/application Thursday — Independent practice Friday — Review, assessment, or informal check Use professional judgment to create a logical instructional progression. Each day's objective must be specific to what students are doing THAT DAY. -------------------------------------------------- WEEKLY PAGE LAYOUT -------------------------------------------------- THIS SECTION IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Create EACH WEEK as ONE LANDSCAPE US LETTER PAGE (11 × 8.5 inches). The page should visually resemble a traditional, professionally designed TEACHER WEEKLY LESSON PLAN BOOK. Do NOT create a generic spreadsheet-style curriculum map. At the top of each weekly page, include a clean title such as: GRADE [GRADE] WEEKLY LESSON PLANS — [MONTH] Directly underneath the title, include a thin information row: Teacher Name: __________ Grade: [GRADE] Week Of: [DATE RANGE] Notes: __________ Then create the weekly lesson-plan grid. GRID STRUCTURE: LEFT COLUMN: Subjects FIVE EQUAL COLUMNS ACROSS THE PAGE: Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Place the calendar date with each weekday. For example: Monday 14 Tuesday 15 Wednesday 16 Thursday 17 Friday 18 SUBJECT ROWS: Reading – [READING CURRICULUM] Writing – [WRITING CURRICULUM] Math – [MATH CURRICULUM] Science – [SCIENCE CURRICULUM] Social Studies – [SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM OR STATE STANDARDS] -------------------------------------------------- VISUAL STYLE -------------------------------------------------- Make the document look like a premium printable teacher planner. Use: • Landscape orientation • Clean white or very light cream background • Soft pastel colors • A different subtle pastel shade for each SUBJECT LABEL CELL in the left column • Examples: soft pink, peach, pale yellow, sage green, light blue • Mostly white instructional cells • Thin, subtle light-gray grid lines • A thin pastel accent line underneath the page title • Clean, modern, easy-to-read typography • Comfortable spacing • Small but readable lesson text • Consistent formatting throughout the entire year The SUBJECT column should provide the visual color coding. The daily lesson cells should remain clean and uncluttered. The overall appearance should resemble a professionally designed teacher lesson-plan template that could be purchased as a printable planner. DO NOT: • Use thick purple table borders • Put a bright outline around the entire grid • Use large headings inside lesson cells • Create a corporate spreadsheet appearance • Use excessive bold text • Use dark or highly saturated colors • Create extremely narrow columns • Split words awkwardly across lines • Allow text to overlap • Allow text to run outside cells • Shrink the font until it becomes difficult to read • Turn each lesson cell into a paragraph-heavy block -------------------------------------------------- DAILY CELL FORMAT -------------------------------------------------- VERY IMPORTANT: Do NOT place these four items on four separate labeled lines: Topic/Skill: Learning Objective: Standard(s): Curriculum: That creates too much text and makes the planner look like a spreadsheet. Instead, write the information as ONE compact lesson-plan entry. Use this format: [Topic/Skill]. Objective: [concise learning objective]. Standard: [code]. [Curriculum]: [verified unit/lesson OR VERIFY ________]. EXAMPLE: Main idea and key details. Objective: Determine the main idea and explain how supporting details develop it. Standard: 4R2. HMH Into Reading: VERIFY ________. Keep the wording SHORT. Each daily cell should contain approximately 30–45 words MAXIMUM whenever possible. Prioritize readability over unnecessary detail. If information does not fit comfortably, SHORTEN THE WORDING. Do not make the columns narrower or create tiny text to accommodate excessive content. -------------------------------------------------- WEEKLY CONTENT -------------------------------------------------- For each instructional day and subject, include: • Topic/skill • Concise learning objective • State standard code(s) • Verified curriculum unit/lesson OR a clearly marked VERIFY space Nothing more is required. This is a curriculum OVERVIEW, not a detailed lesson plan. -------------------------------------------------- SPECIAL CALENDAR DAYS -------------------------------------------------- If students do not attend on a weekday, keep that day's column in the planner but clearly display: NO SCHOOL [Reason from district calendar] Do not create lessons for that day. For an early dismissal or other modified instructional day, note it briefly while still including appropriate instructional content when applicable. -------------------------------------------------- CONSISTENCY -------------------------------------------------- Use the SAME weekly planner design for every week of the school year. Only the dates and instructional content should change. Every weekly page should feel like it belongs to the same professionally designed teacher planner. -------------------------------------------------- FINAL QUALITY CHECK -------------------------------------------------- Before creating the final document, verify that: 1. Every instructional week from the uploaded district calendar is included. 2. Actual district instructional dates are used. 3. Holidays and non-attendance days are correctly represented. 4. No curriculum lesson/unit titles have been invented. 5. Lessons are aligned to [STATE] [GRADE] standards whenever possible. 6. Monday–Friday content progresses logically instead of repeating identical text. 7. Every week fits on exactly ONE landscape page. 8. No text is clipped, overlapping, overflowing, or awkwardly wrapped. 9. The font remains readable. 10. Every page uses the same soft pastel teacher-planner design. -------------------------------------------------- FINAL OUTPUT -------------------------------------------------- Generate the completed full-year curriculum plan as a DOWNLOADABLE PDF. PDF requirements: • US Letter • LANDSCAPE orientation • ONE instructional week per page • Monday–Friday columns • Subjects down the left side • Soft pastel subject labels • Clean professional teacher-planner appearance • Consistent design throughout the entire document • Print-ready • No clipped or overflowing text The final result should look like a professionally designed weekly teacher lesson-plan book — NOT a spreadsheet or generic AI-generated table. Then copy and paste this response into Canva AI to instantly turn it into a polished, printable weekly lesson plan document.
